Inaugural Meeting of the Clergy Society 2022

Please note: this event has now passed.

Orielenses who are ordained members of the clergy or seminarians are invited to the inaugural meeting of the Oriel Clergy Society: a Lecture, Tour of St Mary’s, Evensong and Dinner, taking place in College on Friday, 24 June 2022. Oriel is unusual in having over a hundred alumni in holy orders, as well as former college chaplains and incumbents of college livings. We hope this event will refresh you in your ministry and help to strengthen connections between us.

The day will begin at 3pm with a lecture from Dr William Wood (Fellow in Theology and Chair of the Theology Faculty). This will be followed by tea and a tour of the University Church, before returning to College for Evensong in Chapel at 6pm and Dinner in the Champney’s Room at 7pm. The preacher at Evensong will be the Rt Rev’d Monsignor Roderick Strange.

The event will be hosted by the Venerable David Meara, former Archdeacon of London, and the Revd Dr Robert Wainwright, the present Chaplain of Oriel. Dress is clericals/lounge suits.

Tickets are priced at £30 each and include a three course meal with wine and coffee. Orielenses are welcome to also bring their spouse to this event. If cost alone deters you from attending, please contact the Chaplain on chaplain@oriel.ox.ac.uk. Please book your tickets via the link below.
