Orielensis Tony Tucker (1964) has very kindly agreed to offer a tour around London to Orielenses. Tony is a qualified City of London Guide and lecturer and has published guide books to the City Churches and Sword Rests of the City.
From Romans to Rogers – 2000 Years of City History
Meet in front of the Monument (opposite the exit of Monument u/g in Fish Street Hill). Visit Trinity Gardens, with war memorials to merchant seamen lost in the two world wars, the site of the Tower Hill execution block, the largest surviving section of Roman wall, the delightful medieval church of St Olave Hart Street where Samuel Pepys worshipped and is buried, historic lanes and alleyways surviving from medieval times (with many associations with Charles Dickens), Wren and medieval churches, the site of the outbreak of the Great Fire of London, a most attractive City garden in the ruined church of St Dunstan in the East, and modern buildings by Lord Foster and Lord Rogers.
