Nearly two decades after the Climate Change Act, how is the UK really doing on net zero? And what does it take to lead the transition from the inside?
Professor Jan Rosenow will be joined by Emma Pinchbeck, the Chief Executive of the Climate Change Committee, in the Harris Lecture Theatre on Wednesday 11 November at 4pm. Following the session there will be a drinks reception from 5pm. Please note this is an in-person event only.
Now the UK’s statutory climate advisor, Emma Pinchbeck’s career has taken her from campaigning at WWF-UK through the renewables industry and Energy UK to the heart of government advice, and she has often found herself criticised by environmental campaigners and sceptical newspapers alike.
In conversation with Professor Jan Rosenow, Emma will reflect on that journey, the biggest obstacles still standing between the UK and net zero, and how to push back against growing polarisation. She will also talk candidly about leading large organisations as a young woman in a male-dominated sector, the personal cost of doing hard, mission-driven work, and her advice for young people thinking about a career in climate and energy.
