Breakwater is holding a drinks reception that is taking place at Oriel College Hall on Saturday, February 11th from 18:00-19:30. The reception is to celebrate the end of the silent auction holding, which includes donations from artists such as Maggi Hambling, Steven Appleby, and Fortnum and Mason’s. We will kindly be joined by members of the original Privileged cast and crew once more.
Breakwater Pictures warmly invites you to its first ever Breakwater Gala Night for the upcoming feature film. Come and enjoy some fizz, listen to live music and view the art on auction, all in the historic surroundings of the Dining Hall at Oriel College Oxford.
As the 40th anniversary of “Privileged” approaches, the Oxford University Filmmaking Foundation (OUFF) and the student production company Nocturne Productions have decided to make the second feature film in the history of the University. After the great success of “Privileged” in 1982, they feel that 40 years later Oxford should continue to promote student talent and creativity on the big screen, especially as filmmaking becomes increasingly accessible.
The film, “Breakwater”, follows the relationship between Otto, a university student, and John, a retired angler who lives on the coast. It is set between the glorious sandstone of Oxford and the salt-encrusted shingle of the Suffolk coast, blurring the genres of psychological drama and horror to explore how we connect, forgive and grieve.
