Over the course of 36 hours, we will reach out to our global community through emails and social media; providing updates on our fundraising progress.
Giving days celebrate all the reasons why Oriel is so distinct – a fun, close-knit community at the heart of Oxford. They allow all Orielenses – alumni, students, Fellows, and staff – to come together to give a gift to the causes that are close to their hearts. Gifts of all sizes will have a direct impact on our students, so no gift is too small.
Last year’s Giving Day raised over £170,000 from generous Orielenses, with funds going directly towards student support, the boat club and to help future proof our buildings. This year, gifts will be directed to student support, the boat club as they seek to buy a new boat for the women’s second team as well as the senior library which needs some key roof repairs.
Thanks to the support of a generous Orielensis, donations made this Thursday and Friday will be matched meaning that students will get even more support.
Margaret Jones, Treasurer, says “‘Our Oriel community benefits from generous gifts of those who came before us. Giving Day is an opportunity to participate in that long history of giving, ensuring Oriel is here for future generations’. The Oriel community is grateful to everyone who supports our students, our teaching and research, and our heritage.”
