Oriel College welcomed former students who matriculated between the years 1987 and 1990 on 21 March 2025.

The alumni were invited to tea and a conversation with Provost, Lord Mendoza CBE, in the Lodgings in the afternoon.

In the evening, they congregated for a Chapel Service, before attending a drinks reception in Hall and dinner in the Senior Library.

At the end of dinner, the Provost called attention to the room and introduced Astra Emir (1987), who regaled her contemporaries with a speech recounting her experiences coxing for the men’s eights at Torpids and Summer Eights.

Emir finished her speech by toasting “Floreat Oriel!” The Provost then made a speech covering recent sporting achievements by students and developments at the University of Oxford.

Oriel College invites alumni to attend their first Gaudy approximately ten years after their matriculation. They are then held about once every seven years.

The Development and Alumni Engagement Office attempts to inform all alumni about upcoming Gaudies but are unable to invite alumni without accurate contact details.

Alumni can update their contact details at www.alumni.oriel.ox.ac.uk/contact-the-team.
