Oriel Giving Day: Here and Now

Over the course of 36 hours, we will reach out to our global community through emails and social media; providing updates on our fundraising progress and sharing activities as they happen.

Giving days celebrate all the reasons why Oriel is so distinct – a fun, close-knit community at the heart of Oxford. They allow all Orielenses – alumni, students, Fellows, and staff – to come together to give a gift to the causes that are close to their hearts. All gifts of all sizes will have a direct impact on our students.

Maggie Jones, Treasurer, said:

“There has never been a more important time to show support for Oriel and its students. Cost-of-living pressures also impact our students; with around one-in-five receiving some kind of financial assistance. Financial worries are a constant theme in our discussions with the students, a pressure we know diverts their energies from their studies. It is vital that our community comes together to support students now, and donating any amount during our giving day will make a direct impact on them.”

Thanks to the generosity of a small group of Orielenses, donations made this Friday and Saturday will be matched – in some cases pound-for-pound – meaning that students will get even more support.

The whole Oriel community is grateful to everyone who supports our students, our teaching and research, and our heritage.
