UK ambassador to Israel, alumnus, appointed CMG in New Year Honours

Simon Walters (1991) was appointed a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) “for services to foreign policy”.
Walters, a PPE graduate, is currently His Majesty’s Ambassador to the State of Israel, a role to which he was appointed in July 2023. Formerly, he was Director of National Security for Middle East and Africa at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
James Thomson (1985) and Dr Jonathan Brewer (1973) were also recognised in the 2025 New Year Honours.
